Chapter Resources: Leadership Empowerment Gatherings (LEG-Ups)

LEG-Up Events are Leadership Empowerment Gatherings.  They usually run from 4:30 to 6:00 in the evening.  The events generally allow for a half hour of socializing at the beginning of the event (4:30 to 5:00) and an hour with a speaker (5:00 to 6:00).  The speakers are usually women in leadership positions or who speak on leadership skills.  The events are informal.  A firm sponsors the event by providing the space, appetizers, wine and soft drinks. 

How can my chapter put on a LEG-Up event?
A committee identifies potential speakers and hosts.  Calls are made to the potential speakers and hosts and dates are set.  Invitations are e-mailed on the OWLS list serve.  In Portland, they are on a recurring date each month so it is easy to remember.
