OWLS, OMLA, OAPABA, OGALLA, OHBA, the OSB Affirmative Action Program, and the OSB Diversity Section have joined together to sponsor a free CLE panel discussion on how to prepare yourself to become a judge, with an inside look in the selection of federal judges in Oregon. Panelists include Judge Ancer Haggerty, U.S. District Court Judge for the District of Oregon, Josh Kardon, former Chief of Staff to Senator Ron Wyden and a veteran of six past selection processes, Jeanne Atkins, State Director for Senator Jeff Merkley, Lou Savage, chair of the most recent federal selection committee, and Kate Wilkinson, former OWLS President and a member of the most recent selection committee. We’ll discuss how to prepare to become a state, federal, or magistrate judge and how federal and state judges are selected. Even if you don’t have judicial aspirations yourself, you’ll learn what you can do to help increase diversity on the bench.
