Keynote speaker/panelist: Patricia Ireland, lawyer, author and former president of the National Organization for Women (NOW)
Panelist: Hon. Anna Brown, U.S. District Court of Oregon

$65 for members; $80 for nonmembers; $25 for students.

OWLS is pleased to feature Patricia Ireland as our keynote speaker this year. Ms. Ireland is a lawyer, activist, author and a former president of NOW. She will speak at 3 p.m. about career success, what women have accomplished over the last several decades, and the remaining barriers to career fulfillment. The keynote will be followed by a panel moderated by OWLS' President, Concetta Schwesinger, featuring Ms. Ireland and the Honorable Anna J. Brown, US District Court.

Following the CLE at 6:00 pm, we will enjoy a reception at which we will present the fifth annual Workplace Leader Awards. All OWLS members and friends are encouraged to attend the reception at no charge.

2009 OWLS Fall CLE "Breaking Barriers: How Far We Have Come, How Far We Have To Go" was sold out!

The keynote speaker for OWLS' Fall CLE was Sarah Weddington, lawyer, professor and women's rights activist.  Dr. Weddington argued Roe v. Wade at the U.S. Supreme Court when she was just 26 years old.

Tthe keynote address was followed by a dynamic panel discussion moderated by OWLS Founding Mother, Katherine H. O'Neil featuring panelists Holly Fujie, California State Bar president, Janis Harwell, in-house counsel for Intermec Inc. in Everett, WA, Kris Olson, former U.S. Attorney for Oregon, and Hon. Darleen Ortega, Oregon Court of Appeals.

2008 Fall CLE
"Keeping the Promise" was held in conjunction with the National Association of Women Judges Annual Conference at the Waterfront Marriott in downtown Portland. The Luncheon Keynote was Linda Greenhouse, Pulitzer Prize winning journalist.

The Woman Advocate: Techniques and Strategies for Successful Advocacy and Practice Management

On Friday, October 27, 100 attorneys and judges gathered for the OWLS Fall CLE, “The Woman Advocate: Techniques and Strategies for Successful Advocacy and Practice Management.” Attendees heard from a star-studded group of presenters on topics designed to strengthen advocacy and litigation skills. Consultant Joyce Tsongas, the founder and principal of Tsongas Litigation Consulting was the keynote speaker at the conference. She and co-presenter Laura Dominic, a senior consultant at Tsongas Litigation Consulting offered presentation and speaking tips for women advocates. Following the keynote, the program focused on four major areas of practice: women in the courtroom, negotiation, depositions, and client management.
